

2010 grant recipients
The Board of Trustees recently authorized grants, totaling $31,587, to support pro bono programs and projects that promote the public understanding of the law to the following agencies. These funds will be distributed in early 2010.
CASA of Allegheny County
To support the costs associated with recruiting, screening, and training six (6) new CASA volunteers from the legal community.
Education Law Center
To help fund "Legal Aid for Teens in Transition” which will provide legal services to emancipated minors, runaways and those who are homeless to help them understand and exercise their legal rights, to enroll and remain in school, and to gain access to public education services.
Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Pittsburgh
To help fund the existing Pro Bono Immigration Law Project which will mentor additional pro bono non-immigration attorneys for the provision of deportation representation; provide referrals to individuals with Green Card issues, citizenship issues, and deportation cases; and assign asylum cases to pro bono attorneys through the Pro Bono Referral Program.
KidsVoice
To help fund the Independent Living Advocacy Program which will help teen clients aging out of the foster care system to receive services needed to transition to independent living as adults.
Mental Health American Legal Services
To support the provision of pro bono legal services to people with mental illness in a timely and understanding manner, ensuring them the best opportunity to achieve positive resolutions to their legal problems.
Neighborhood Legal Services Association
To fund the "Domestic Violence Consumer Education Project" which will work with victims of domestic violence to obtain legal information to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
