Law Day

Photos from LawdayThe ACBA Public Service Committee held a Pittsburgh public school Law Day event on Thursday, May 1, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Eighth-grade students from middle schools in Pittsburgh’s North Side assembled at Pittsburgh Allegheny School to do an activity pertaining to this year’s Law Day theme“The Rule of Law,” and to hear local lawyers and judges talk about their professions. Volunteers and students participated in a 45-minute activity and then participated in a general Q&A session with the entire assembly of students. The goal of this event was to connect attorneys with children who may encounter the legal system personally in divorce, custody, and other cases.

President Eisenhower proclaimed the first Law Day fifty years ago, in 1958, as a day of national dedication to the principle of government under law.
