Duquesne Law grads Kathleen Charlton and Lyle Dresbold honored with Lynette Norton Memorial Award


Lyle DresboldKathleen CharltonThis year, two graduates from Duquesne University School of Law were honored with the Lynette Norton Memorial Award: Kathleen Charlton and Lyle Dresbold.

Katie Charlton resides in Freeport, PA. She grew up in West Leechburg, PA and graduated from Leechburg Area High School in 1999 as class valedictorian. She then moved to Manhattan where she earned her BA in Journalism from NYU in 2003, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She entered the evening program at Duquesne Law in the fall of 2004, and will graduate Magna Cum Laude. While at Duquesne, Ms. Charlton participated on the mock trial competition team, including earning the Best Advocate award at the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County Gourley Mock Trial Competition in February, 2007 and was a regional finalist in the National Trial Competition sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers in Philadelphia in February, 2008. She was also a finalist in the Carol Los Mansmann Oral Appellate Competition in the spring of 2005. She has earned the CALI Award for Excellence for her courses in Criminal Process, Appellate Practice and Procedure, and Family Law. For the past two years, she has served as Vice President (evening) of the Student Bar Association and was a staff writer for the Law Review. After graduation, Ms. Charlton plans to work at the Lindsay Law Firm and focus on criminal defense and product liability.

Lyle Dresbold is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in 2001. He earned a Bachelors of Arts in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland in 2005. His mother, Amy Dresbold teaches for the Pittsburgh Public Schools and his father, Joel Dresbold is a practicing attorney in Pittsburgh. Mr. Dresbold plans on joining his father's practice upon passing the bar exam. He will also be teaching a course in Criminal Law and Evidence at Robert Morris University this fall. Mr. Dresbold looks forward to passing the bar exam and doing criminal and family trial work in Allegheny County.
