The Honorable Carol Los Mansman was the first woman appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Third Circuit, an associate professor of law at Duquesne University Law School, and an outstanding member of the Allegheny County Bar Association and Pittsburgh's legal community.
Judge Mansmann died suddenly on March 9, 2002. Following her death, her family, friends, fellow lawyers, and the Women in the Law Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association desired to honor her memory by establishing the Honorable Carol Los Mansmann Memorial Fund within the Allegheny County Bar Foundation.
Each year, the fund shall award a cash scholarship to an incoming female law student entering Duquesne University Law School. The scholarship shall be based upon the financial need of the student and shall be selected annually based on criteria established by the Honorable Carol Los Mansmann Memorial Fund Committee in conjunction with recommendations by the Dean and designated faculty of the Duquesne University Law School.
The fund distributed its first scholarship in 2005. For more information, please contact Lorrie Albert at 412-402-6640 or lalbert@acba.org.
