Pittsburgh Pro Bono Week 2022

The Pro Bono Center of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation will celebrate National Pro Bono Week with a variety of events in October and November.  Pro Bono Week is an opportunity to thank volunteers, recognize the life-changing work that pro bono attorneys perform on behalf of clients with low incomes and recruit and train additional volunteers.  Here are some ways to join the celebration.


Oct. 17
PITTSBURGH PRO BONO PARTNERSHIP ANNUAL MEETING
12 – 1:30 p.m., Reed Smith

The Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership is celebrating its 20th year.  Join us for a CLE and panel discussion that will review the Partnership’s history and accomplishments.  You will also learn about current volunteer opportunities through Partnership Signature Projects.  Click here to register.

ACBF FALL FOUNDATION RECEPTION
5:30 p.m., LeMont Restaurant

HOUSING COURT VOLUNTEER RECEPTION
3:30 - 5 p.m., City-County Building                              

The judges of the Housing Court of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas invite attorneys who have volunteered for the Landlord/Tenant Mediation Project to a reception to celebrate their contributions to residents of Allegheny County facing eviction.

DERRICK A. BELL COMMUNITY LEGAL CLINIC
5 - 7 p.m., Hill District Community Engagement Center                   

This clinic is a project of the University of Pittsburgh Black Law Students Association in partnership with the ACBA Homer S. Brown Division and the Pro Bono Center of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation.  It is named in honor of Derrick A. Bell, a Pittsburgh native and graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.  Dr. Bell was a civil rights lawyer and professor who pioneered scholarship on the intersection of race and justice.  To volunteer, contact Barbara Griffin at bgriffin@acba.org.
