2016 grant recipients
The Board of Trustees authorized grants totaling $35,000 to support pro bono programs and projects that promote the public understanding of the law to the following agencies. These funds will be distributed in early 2016.
Christian Legal Aid
To provide more people in need with access to legal help, acquire and implement technology to improve efficiency, and recruit additional volunteers.
Focus on Renewal
To continue serving low-income individuals and families through the Sto-Rox legal clinic with legal documents, such as wills, power of attorney and health care directives.
Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Pittsburgh
To provide training for pro bono attorneys to assist clients with green card applications through the Legal Services for Immigrants & Internationals (LSII) program.
Pittsburgh Mercy Health System
To offset legal costs for the Homeless Experience Legal Protection (H.E.L.P.) program that helps homeless individuals regain proof of their identity and helps with social services benefits.
Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh
To provide civil legal representation to victims of intimate partner violence that will help victims obtain safety, autonomy, and restoration from the Justice System.
